Just do not configure anything on it and just use layer 2 Supervisor. If for whatever reason you do not want to see the MSFC, session into it, change the config-register to 0x0 and reload. It would boot into rommon and not show up in sh mod.
You can issue a 'switch console" from a console session and issue a manual boot if you need it at any time
