THe above provided information works for Sup2,Sup32 & Sup720?

That is correct , you could also put it on the pci card in slot0: if you have one and point the boot statement there . Either one is correct . If you know you aren't going to use the old image delete it and then squeeze the space.

Looks good... the procedure is the same for upgrading CatOS for any SUP.
You might need to squeeze bootflash: if you don't have enough disk space to hold the new image.. ( dir bootflash: will tell you )
I have this idea that loading from PCMCIA card or CompactFlash is slow because it takes more time to read from those devices than from the bootflash: .. but for small images, it should not be that bad...

Thanks for the reponse you guyz, 2 more doubts to be cleared finally.
1. my new CatOS image size is 11.7MB, so using TFTP will be fine isn't?
2. if i upgrade it to new CatOS, does it affect anything or do i need to do something special for the IOS which is MSFC2? bcoz already my 6509 has got sup2 with PFC2 MSFC2.

11.7mb through your tftp will be fine. just takes a couple of minutes.
the upgrade to the CatOS should not have any adverse affect on the PFC/MSFC.
use the Software Support for Hardware feature of the Software Advisor to verify what 6500 hardware is compatibile with your version of CatOS.(http://tools.cisco.com/Support/Fusion/FusionHome.do)
( registered customers only)
Refer to the Catalyst 6500 Series Release Notes in order to find which hardware is supported by the CatOS that runs on your switch.

Yes...TFTP will work.

If there is any incompatibility issue.. it would be stated in the Release Notes of the MSFC software.. check it out :)... Release note is your "friend" :)
