Replacing 3750 stack in a stack.

Hi,

we are currently using 2 X 3750 switches. but, these model are quite old so we are going to replace it with 2 X 3850 stack switches.

Upper 3750 is the master as high priority than bottom 3750.

If we shutdown upper master 3750 as power off, then, bottom 3750 will take over the master role? and no issue with traffic allowing bottom 3750?

if it is working, then we will replace the 3750 to 3850 one by one as minimized downtime during the replacement.

"Upper 3750 is the master as high priority than bottom 3750."

BTW, having higher priority, alone, doesn't guarantee that switch is the active master. You'll want to query the device to determine active master.

"If we shutdown upper master 3750 as power off, then, bottom 3750 will take over the master role? and no issue with traffic allowing bottom 3750?"

Depends if the stack is L2 or L3. L2 traffic shouldn't be interrupted. L3 may be. Also, by default, stack's MAC will change when stack master changes.

"if it is working, then we will replace the 3750 to 3850 one by one as minimized downtime during the replacement."

As you cannot stack a 3750 and 3850, you're planning to interconnect a 3750 with a 3850 during the transition? If not, unclear how doing one unit at a time will minimize downtime.
