Hi all,

I am not able set encapsulation on the gig port of one of my switch as I want to allow only few vlan on any port

It is likely that you have one of the newer linecards that only support 802.1q trunking. Therefore if you have the interface set for " switchport mode trunk" it will only operate with dot1q trunks.
